Understanding: Unknown

Updated by Iker Camara

In this article, we'll define the term 'Unknown' as it appears in the application and show you where you might encounter this.

What is 'Unknown'?

When we don't have any tracking activity before a certain stage, or if we can't retrieve useful information from your CRM about how a contact or account first interacted with your business, we label the channel and/or the source as Unknown.

To identify such cases, go to the Journeys section of the app and set the channel filter to 'Unknown'.

If you notice that a large percentage of your stage models have 'Unknown' channels and sources, we suggest following these steps:

  1. Make sure that the tracking script is functioning correctly on your website. Click here for web tracking.
  2. Check if your CRM has a well-organized structure with proper connections between contacts, companies, and deals. This is necessary to link activity to a stage model.
  3. Ensure that your CRM contains information about the origin of contacts, companies, and deals, which we can use in our data model. Dreamdata automatically gathers a set of default events from your CRM, but there may be instances where you need to include additional events. For further details, please refer to the documentation specific to your CRM platform. Moreover, you can refer to this article for more details on how we determine the channel and source based on your CRM data.omer support.

We are always here to help so please reach out to friends@dreamdata.io with any questions or requests!

Thank you!
