Understanding Lead Progression with the Funnel Stages Report

The Funnel Stages Report offers businesses a detailed overview of lead progression through the sales funnel. By providing insights into how leads advance from initial engagement to closed deals, this tool empowers teams to identify both strengths and areas needing improvement within their marketing and sales processes.

Use this report to analyze and compare performance improvements in your sales funnel over a defined time period.

How It Works

Cohort Selection

The time filter determines the cohort included in the funnel analysis. For instance, selecting "Ladst 6 months" includes all leads marked as "Marketing Qualified" during that period. The report then tracks their progress through the funnel, from the "Sales Qualified" stage to the "Closed Won" stage.

Defining Maximum Conversion Time

The "maximum conversion time" sets the conversion window for your analysis. For example, choosing 30 days focuses on the portion of the cohort that completed the conversion within 30 days or less.

Note: the maximum conversion time you select is applied to each conversion individually..
What can Funnel Stages help you with?

Funnel Stages provides valuable insights into key stage transitions within the customer journey, specifically between Marketing Qualified and Sales Qualified, and from Sales Qualified to Closed Won.

The "Average Journey" sections display critical metrics for each transition within the sales funnel, including conversion rates and the average time it takes for leads, deals, or prospects to progress to the next stage. Additionally, the report highlights the average number of contacts, channels, and sessions involved at each stage of the journey.

Monthly breakdowns of transition data are provided in a table format, enabling you to easily track and compare performance improvements over time. This helps you better assess the effectiveness of your go-to-market strategy and overall business health.

Key Considerations
  • The time filter applies exclusively to the date of the "Marketing Qualified" cohort. While the "Sales Qualified" and "Closed Won" stages must occur after the initial stage, they are not required to fall within the selected time frame.
  • It’s important to note that the Funnel Stages report operates on a "closed funnel" model, meaning leads can only enter at the first stage and must advance sequentially through each subsequent stage
  • Please ensure that your sales funnel is defined in the Data Platform > Settings page before accessing the Funnel Stages Report.
