Benchmarks FAQs

Updated by Steen Voersaa

How are Benchmarks calculated?

Each benchmark metric is calculated using performance data from a cohort of companies within the same industry and of comparable size. The specific performance metrics from this cohort are aggregated, and an average is derived to establish the benchmark. Each benchmark incorporates data from a sufficient number of companies to ensure both reliability and accuracy, while also maintaining the anonymity of the individual companies within the group.

How does Dreamdata anonymize company benchmark data?

Each benchmark is derived from a substantial dataset of companies and performance metrics, ensuring reliability, accuracy, and the anonymity of individual companies within the benchmark group. This group can comprise hundreds of companies and continues to expand. Given the inability to ascertain the exact number of companies or their identities within the benchmark, it is impossible to extract metrics specific to any one company.

To illustrate, consider knowing the average height of a group of hundreds or even thousands of individuals. Just as you cannot determine the exact height of a person named Maria or even know if Maria is part of the group, Dreamdata’s benchmarks maintain anonymity, preventing the identification of individual company data.

Access Control to Dreamdata’s Benchmarks

Every Dreamdata customer that contributes to Benchmarks automatically receives access to these Benchmarks. Participation is included by default as part of the contractual agreement. While the value and benefits of Benchmarks are substantial, opting out is a simple process that can be completed within the Dreamdata app.

If you choose to opt out of Benchmarks, you will no longer have access to the Benchmark data.
